Grocery Shopping and More Pictures

The weather was somewhat nice here yesterday besides a little bit of rain. It is supposed to get into the 60's and then drop back down to the 20's tomorrow so I thought it would be a good day to try grocery shopping with Reagan by myself. Now we have done some shopping but nothing like we did today. We went to CVS and Kroger's which included using coupons so that adds extra time. Plus I had to run a couple of other errands including getting her birth certificate.

She was so good during the shopping, sleeping most of the time. She was quite the attention getter as well. I ate bad having McDonald's for lunch (only because I had a gift card!) and this table of little old ladies couldn't get enough of her. They kept talking about how different things are now versus when they had kids. Then they would talk about the other people at McDonald's. They were like the a little clique of mean girls from high school.

Finally, her last set of newborn pictures is online. If you would like to see them go to echobydesign.com then click on the blog tab at the top. These ones melted my heart as much as the others. It just solidifies that I am going to go broke buying pictures.

New Name and Other Fun Stuff

Actually there isn't much fun stuff but oh well. We did have a little girl that slept from 10:30-5:30 Saturday night. I actually woke up around 3 and pumped because I was so engorged and got almost 7oz. I haven't been pumping that regular but I am going to start trying to pump at least once a day and freeze most but leave some in the fridge so Matt can feed her or make it easier to feed her when we are out and about.

We went back to the doctor today for one more blood draw to check her bilirubin levels. He did decide with this blood draw he was going to check her liver enzymes as well. He doesn't think anything is wrong with her liver but then we can rule it out for sure. Her level was down last Monday so as long as it goes down again tomorrow we are done with the blood draws. I am really interested in seeing how much she gained in a week. When we left the hospital for the first time she weighed 7lbs 9oz. From there she has gone to 7lbs 13.5oz to 8lbs 3oz and last week she was 8lbs 8oz. We were almost back to birth weight. The doctor said she should be above her birth weight by this next one. She should of been there by her last appointment but he said some take a bit longer than others.s  Today she was 9lbs even. She also measured at 22 inches. More importantly though, her levels were down and her enzymes looked good.

Okay now to the new name. I actually wanted to change the url of my blog but I'm not sure how. Can anyone help me to make sure that all my followers can find it? A big reason for wanting to change the name is that even though I am still on this journey through weight loss but right now it is more about eating right so I can continue to provide for Reagan. I will say though since the day I had her I have lost 32 pounds. Still a long long way to go but it is a start. Obviously, I am still dealing with PCOS and I will be dealing with it for the rest of my life. For now though, it is not at the forefront of my journey. Being a new mom is going to be an amazing, terrifying, flying by the seat of my pants at times but wouldn't trade if for the world journey.

The former infertile deserves a post of its own, to tackle another day.

Reagan's newborn pictures are online. You have to got to www.photographybyluann.com then click on view proofs. You have to enter your email address but then you can see them all. I have pretty much decided that I am going to go broke buying pictures. When the other photographer has her set done I will let you all know. Here is the teaser I got on facebook.

Planning versus Reality

As I have said before, a c-section wasn't my first choice. I had wanted to have a vaginal birth because of the benefits for the baby and because I wanted to experience what all woman talk about. Call me crazy but I wanted to feel the contractions, do the pushing and have that glorious moment when Matt cuts the cord and they hand her to me. Instead, I never really felt continuous contractions, didn't have to push, didn't have to decide whether to use drugs or not and Matt got to hold her first (which was fine). I felt like I cheated, like I took the easy way out. I know it was the best thing Having a c-section also scared me because it is major abdominal surgery. Surgery is scary in my eyes, so much can happen and the chance of infection=super scary. Here lately a few people that recently had babies had c sections and they ended up with infections. Umm super scary in my eyes.

The first time the doctor mentioned a c-section I was only 38 weeks and I expressed my intentions of wanting a vaginal delivery and he was fine with it. Somehow, when you are already sitting in a hospital bed hooked up to the monitors and they are talking about blood pressure and pre-eclampsia some how what you wanted goes out the window. At that point it was all about what was best for baby and after a talk with Matt and a few tears it was decided that the c-section was the best option.

Obviously I was going to be medicated but I was not prepared for the amount of fluid they were going to put into me via IV.  I am still swollen in my feet and ankles. They did have issues getting the spinal in but once they got it in it worked instantly. I could feel pressure but felt no pain. Matt was beside me and he got to peak over and he saw her when they pulled her out. A big plus of having the section was they sucked most of the stuff and things out of me so I don't have the bleeding like I would had I had a vaginal delivery. Now not to get too TMI but there is bleeding but it has been just enough to be annoying.

Recovery has been slower than I expected. My incision looks good and I had the staples removed last Monday. While I was at the doctors I got on the scale and from the last day I was pregnant till Monday I had lost 11lbs. I am excited to see as I continue to lose fluid. I can tell if I do too much so back to the couch I go. They did give me ibprofun and oxycodon to bring home but I only take those if absolutely necessary. Last night was the first night I slept in our bed. I had missed sleeping beside Matt. I had been sleeping in the recliner because it was easier to get in and out of.

Now, since I had a c section I will always be a c section unless we go to a bigger hospital. Another thing that I didn't want but once again it wasn't about me.

If you ladies could send some love to Laura @ The Adventures of an Infertile Myrtle who is starting a new cycle her third with a new doctor and Bird @ Bird Meets Bee whose due date is today! Plus Sass @ (In) Fertility Unexplained who is getting so close!

Back Again

So I have so much to talk about but I won't make this super long. We left the hospital on Saturday and and we were excited to head home and try this whole parenting thing. We had set up an appointment with the pediatrician for Monday which was a good thing because Reagan's biliruben score was a 20 which was pretty high and was higher than when we left the hospital on Saturday. So back to the hospital we went. I had a few break down moments even though I know jaundice is common and a lot of newborns have it. It was just hard to go back to the hospital and see her under the lights and not be able to pick her up and snuggle her. We had to spend the night and I did not miss that hospital bed one bit. Here level dropped back to 13 yesterday afternoon so we were allowed to go home. It was so nice to be back home with her. I even think Zoe missed her. We have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning and the doctor just called and we are doing a blood draw before that way we can make sure the levels are still dropping. I'm just glad that I made the appointment for Monday that we caught it before it got worse.

Like I said I have so much to talk about but I have to get around because we have newborn pictures today! I will give you a couple more pictures though just cause I can't help myself!

Going home round 2!

She's Here!

Reagan Elizabeth arrived at 5:29pm via c section. She weighed 8lbs 9oz and was 20 inches long. She does have a head of hair but it is dark like mine and not red like her daddy's. We are all doing great. Last night she would sleep for 3-4 hours then eat and we started that this morning but she only at one time for a substantial amount of time this morning other than that she has been sleeping. We had some visitors today and she is such a ham loving everyone holding her. Matt has been awesome, he even changed her first poopy diaper! Now some pictures because I can't resist!

Snug like a bug in a rug although she does like to be a little wiggleworm

My brother and fiance, it was adorable the smile he had on his face!

So in love

Hospital Update

Tests have come back normal but due to concerns of my pressure rising again we are having a c section today at 430. I will update you all. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts!

Lying and Waiting

Lying meaning I'm lying in a hospital bed having some more tests done. My blood pressure was up 148/88 at the doctors office but here at the hospital it had since dropped. I did have protein in my urine of +1. So he sent me over to the hospital to be monitored along with some blood draws. I have not dilated at all. Depending on these tests there may be a c section this afternoon. I will keep you posted!

One year later

I started this blog a year ago not really sure if anyone would read it or if I would even keep up with it. Well here we are a year later and I am still blogging and you awesome ladies do read it! You ladies have given me so much support, advice and laughs throughout this year I couldn't imagine not having you guys a a part of my life!

This year has been a whirlwind of events from IF related, Matt quitting his job to work from home, traveling to Vegas for work, weight loss, work issues, but most importantly we are anxiously awaiting our Peanut's arrival.

The year started off with a scare, facing the fact that we had to see a specialist in order to get our family. Luckily, I found an amazing doctor, Dr. S who didn't take one look at me and blame my weight. We were so fortunate that we only had to go through 2 inexpensive by comparison measures to conceive. I also have been so fortunate to have no other complications besides some elevated blood pressure and low iron. Now I head to another appointment tomorrow with another NST and try to be patient.

I didn't get to ring in the new year with a kiss because we were in bed asleep but as 2013 started today a whole new year of promises awaits all of us. I look forward to following you ladies as those of you welcome your new bundles of joy, the ones who have welcomed their babies and those who are still waiting. 2012 was great, there were bumps but they only make the good stuff better and I know 2013 will be even better!
